When captcha is on, new members get an unverified role that denies View Channel everywhere except the verification channel. They must solve an image captcha to gain access — so a bot that never solves it never sees a single message.
Verification and captcha are separate layers you can combine. The account-age gate kicks accounts newer than your minimum (great against freshly-made raid accounts), while captcha proves there’s a human behind the account.
